Did you know that less than 20% of all Wikipedia profile pages are of women, and only 15-20% of Wikipedia editors are women? We want to play a part in changing this!
This year we will have another version of our Wikipedia project, where we work together to create, edit and improve Wikipedia pages of notable women in the Earth and Environmental sciences in Australasia. Any WOMEESA member can participate; you do not need any experience editing Wikipedia pages, we will learn together!
We will have an introductory session, a couple of drop-in Wiki sessions and a final session to submit our Wiki pages.
Introductory session Wed 12/04 from 12 to 1:30 pm(AEST): Choose your Wikipedia page to work on and learn how to wiki!
Drop-in sessions Fri 28/04 and 30/05 from 12 to 1 pm (AEST): Join us to work together and get support from the Wikipedia support team if needed. It is not necessary for you to attend these sessions, you can also work on your own time!
Final session Fri 30/06 from 12 to 1 pm (AEST): Publish our new pages, and let’s increase the representation on Wikipedia of women in our fields!
If you would like to participate, please register here. Closer to the date, we will send you a list of the pages we will be working on.
Here there is a summary of what we accomplished on our last edit-a-thon. Let’s go for more!
